HISTORIE

HEMO GmbH was formed in 2017 from the merger between the long-standing partner companies EMO Oberflächentechnik GmbH in Bretten-Gölshausen and Hösel GmbH in Ötisheim.
In the same year, a new company headquarters was built for HEMO GmbH in Ötisheim, providing generous office accommodation and spacious production facilities.

Even before the merger, the two companies were among the world's leading manufacturers of component cleaning systems using either solvents alone or combined solvents with aqueous media.
Development of the patented VAIOCS method in 1995 redefined the state of the art in the safe use of combustible solvents at temperatures above flash point, and is still setting standards to this day. Up until the expiry of the EMO patent in 2013, well-known competitors around the world had purchased licences to use this process concept.
EMO and Hösel went on to jointly implement another pioneering development in the field of parts cleaning in the form of HYBRID technology. To find a better solution for exceptionally demanding cleaning assignments, this technology involves using solvents and aqueous media in separate consecutive cleaning stages within a shared treatment chamber.
What was provisionally the most recent development was unveiled in 2016: The BEYOND method, which enables solvents and aqueous media to be used not in separate stages but in a mix.

Extremely close collaboration between the two owner-managed medium-sized family firms culminating in the Surface Alliance (www.surface-alliance.com), as well as a joint shareholding in additional Surface Alliance partner companies both in Germany and beyond have been vital to successful marketing worldwide by this company alliance since it was founded in 1999.
